Former Tustin Player Mazzotta Named Foothill Football Coach

Casey Mazzotta has been hired as football coach at Foothill, according to Mark Eliot of the Tustin Unified School District. Mazzotta replaces Tom Meiss, who resigned to become an assistant coach at Chapman University.

A graduate of Tustin High, Mazzotta was the most valuable defensive player in the 1989 North-South all-star football game. He was coach at Bellflower High the last two seasons.

Mazzotta’s father Frank is the coach at Cerritos College, and his brother Frank Jr. is the coach of La Habra.

Todd Cook has been named Servite baseball coach, Athletic Director Larry Walker said. He replaces Tom Tereschuk, who resigned after the 1998 season, and is now the Villa Park baseball coach.

Cook, who graduated from Servite in 1987 and teaches English there, was the varsity pitching coach from 1992-96, Walker said. He also spent the last two years as an area scout for the Atlanta Braves.

Bill Whiteley has been named Westminster baseball coach, Athletic Director Joe McGuckin said. Whiteley replaces Jim Doyle, who resigned after last season.

Whiteley, a 1973 Westminster graduate, also coached the varsity from 1984 to 1986. He was 39-31-1 before becoming an assistant at Golden West College.
