Jason and Jarron Collins, who played at Harvard-Westlake High, will be the featured guests on “Valley Sports 2” Saturday at 8:30 a.m. on ESPN2 in the West San Fernando Valley Time Warner Communications cable area.

The Collins twins just completed their first year at Stanford.

The final session of the Ned Mircetic basketball camp is scheduled for Monday through Friday at Ventura College.

TRACK AND FIELD

Twins Lawrence and Larry Jones, who helped Taft High to a second-place finish in the boys’ 1,600-meter relay in the state championships in June, have signed with Michigan State.

Lawrence Jones finished third in the 400 meters in the 1997 and ’98 City Section championships and Larry won the 400 last year and placed fourth this year.

Lawrence has a best of 48.12 seconds in the 400 and Larry has clocked 47.80.

FOOTBALL

Sign-ups for Valley Youth Conference football and cheerleading for youngsters 6-14 are being taken Saturday.

Registration for the West Valley Eagles will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Canoga Park High.

Sign-ups for the East Valley Trojans will be from 10 a.m. to noon at Van Nuys Recreation Center.

The San Fernando Braves are taking registration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at San Fernando High.

WATER POLO

Brian Ault and Jason Malinsky each scored two goals, but the Harvard Water Polo Foundation team lost to the French national junior team, 12-7, at Harvard-Westlake High on Thursday.

BASEBALL

Tryouts are set for the Coastal Rockies, a Ventura County-based traveling team that will field six teams in the 1998 fall season.

Tryouts for 13-year-olds will take place Sunday. Prospective players should contact Warren Hall at (805) 655-7999 to make arrangements.

Tryouts for 14-, 15-, 16-year-old and 18-and-under teams will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Aug. 2 at the Ventura College baseball field. Information: Lou Nagy, (805) 642-3400.
