Wade Fans 12, Woodland Hills Wins

Justin Wade pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and drove in three runs with two hits for Woodland Hills Taft in a 7-2 District 20 victory over Central Valley Cleveland Saturday at Taft High.

Travis Rutter’s two-run single in the fifth inning broke a 2-2 tie.

Van Nuys Birmingham 13, Sunland Tujunga Verdugo Hills 8--Billy McGrath and Isidro Villarreal each had three hits for Van Nuys Birmingham (3-1) in a District 20 game at Birmingham.

McGrath (2-0) threw one pitch in the third inning--inducing a bases-loaded double-play with Birmingham leading, 7-2.

Art Garcia and Jimmy McGrath each drove in two runs with two hits for Birmingham. James Lombardo had a run-scoring double and a triple for Verdugo Hills.

Panorama City 10, Canyon 8--Rusty Smith hit a two-run home run and Josh Sage added a double, single and three runs batted in for Panorama City in a District 20 game at Alemany. Josh Hubbard and Scott Swenson each had two hits for Panorama City (2-0).

Mike Enenbach had two doubles and an RBI for Canyon.

Lancaster 7, Tri-Cities Highland 3--Matt Park hit a three-run home run in the fifth to snap a 2-2 tie, and Chris Eilers pitched an eight-hitter for Lancaster in a District 20 game at Lancaster.

Brandon Golphenee hit a home run, double and two RBIs for Tri-Cities Highland (2-2).

Camarillo B 10-3, Oxnard 8-9--David Schoonmaker pitched a four-hitter and struck out eight to give Oxnard a split of District 16 doubleheader at Hueneme High.

Carlos Rodriguez had two hits and four RBIs for Oxnard in the second game.

Justin Collins had three hits, two RBIs and scored three runs for Camarillo B in the first game.

Simi 9-1, Agoura 3-12--Brian Jacobson had four hits, including two doubles and a solo home run, for Agoura in a District 16 doubleheader at Agoura High.

Jacobson had a solo home run and drove in three runs in the second game. Matt Bernstein had three hits, including a three-run home run in the second game.

David Turner (1-0) pitched a two-hitter for Agoura (2-3) in the second game.

Moorpark 4-9, Newbury Park 4-4--Taylor Slimak’s two-run double in the sixth snapped a 4-4 tie in the second game and gave Moorpark (1-3) a split of a District 16 doubleheader at Newbury Park.

Ryan Ayers (2-0) pitched a four-hitter and struck out 10, and Tyler G. Smith’s two-run single in the fourth snapped a 1-1 tie for Newbury Park (3-2) in the opener.

Newhall-Saugus Hart 5, Van Nuys Notre Dame 2--Newhall-Saugus Hart scored three runs in the seventh inning of a District 20 game at Van Nuys Notre Dame.

Jamie Shields (2-0) pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts and three walks for Newhall-Saugus Hart (4-0).

Justin Wiley drove in two runs, including the go-ahead run in the seventh, for Newhall-Saugus Hart.

Burbank Burroughs 10, North Hollywood Poly 0--Tony Sandoval (1-0) pitched a six-hitter with six strikeouts and drove in three runs for Burbank Burroughs (2-0) in a District 20 game at Burroughs. Jesse Perez had two hits, stole two bases and knocked in a run, and Tim Murphy had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run.
