Cleveland Rallies to Win, 6-5

Jason Woolman’s two-out double in the seventh inning drove in Tony Cicero to give Central Valley Cleveland a 6-5 victory over North Hollywood on Saturday in a District 20 game at Cleveland High.

Cicero’s two-run double tied the game, 5-5, for Central Valley Cleveland (4-3) during a four-run seventh.

Woolman (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings without allowing a walk, striking out two. The game-winning double was his second hit.

David Lopez had two hits for Central Valley Cleveland.

Newhall-Saugus Hart 10, Sunland-Tujunga Verdugo Hills 5--Tim Hutting hit a run-scoring single and a double for Newhall-Saugus Hart (7-0) in a District 20 victory over Sunland Tujunga at Verdugo Hills Senior Little League Field.

Nick Losardo (0-1) of Sunland Tujunga (1-6) gave up nine hits and three walks and struck out six.

Losardo had two of his team’s five hits. Cameron Sanchez, Jason Brown and Jeremiah Koopman had Sunland Tujunga’s other hits.

Calabasas 4, Palmdale 3--Chaney Sheffield’s home run to lead off the fifth inning put Calabasas (6-1) ahead to stay in a District 20 game at Palmdale (2-3).

Tom Lookabill (2-0) allowed three earned runs on three hits in six innings with nine strikeouts and two walks for Calabasas, while Tony Sulser retired the side in the seventh inning to earn his first save.

Matt Harrington allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits in four innings with eight strikeouts, while John Felkins took the loss, despite striking out six.

Valley Chatsworth 11, Valencia 1--Charles Kenny had three hits and scored three runs for Valley Chatsworth (1-0) in a District 20 game at Valencia.

Jason Renno (1-0) pitched a five-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Mike Kunes drove in two runs with one hit for Valley Chatsworth.

North Hollywood Poly 12, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake 5--Carlos Reguengo (3-0) pitched a five-hitter with four strikeouts for his third complete game in three appearances for North Hollywood Poly (5-2) in a District 20 game at Franklin Fields.

Reguengo hit a two-run home run for Poly.

Manny Flores drove in two runs with two hits, including a double, and George Felix drove in two runs with three hits, including a double, for Poly.

Steve Kim and Brett Comden each had two hits, including a double, for North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake (2-4), and Comden drove in one run.

North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake 4, Quartz Hill 2--Matt Thayer doubled twice, stole a base and scored a run for North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake in a District 20 game at Franklin Fields.

Greg Kriegler (1-0) allowed two runs on four hits in 6 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Canyon Country Canyon 10, San Fernando 6--Efraim Camargo and Jose Montes each drove in two runs and David Rodriguez had two hits, but San Fernando (0-6) fell in a District 20 game at San Fernando.

Birmingham 7, Antelope Valley 0--Birmingham won by forfeit when Antelope Valley failed to show for a District 20 game at Birmingham High.

Encino Crespi 7-7, Van Nuys Grant 5-6--A two-out single by Brian Horwitz in the seventh inning scored the winning run in the second game of a doubleheader at Valley College, keeping Encino Crespi (7-0) unbeaten in District 20 play.

Jimmy Hawk’s two-out, two-run single in the sixth inning of the first game capped a five-run rally for Encino Crespi.

Michael Marble had a double in the first game and a double and single in the second game for Van Nuys Grant.

Since both teams play their home games at Valley College, Crespi was the host for the first game while Grant hosted the second game.
