Calvary Chapel was the bridesmaid last season, losing to Santa Monica Crossroads in the Southern Section Division IV-A final and Southern California Division IV final. The Eagles moved up a division this year and they’re back in the final for the first time since 1991. Both teams played larger school teams during their nonleague schedules to get ready for the playoffs. The Eagles (23-6) are led by senior shooting guard Joe Ortiz, who has scored 2,001 points in his four-year career. Ortiz and St. Joseph junior guard Matt Cova, who had six three-pointers in an 82-74 semifinal victory over Twentynine Palms, aren’t shy about taking three-point shots, so this is another one in which the air is likely to be filled with basketballs.
