Maury Silver said he has a one-year deal to play in MLRH and that the Bullfrogs are tentatively scheduled to open their 1998 season June 13 at the Arrowhead Pond. MLRH, primarily based on the East Coast, has guaranteed the Bullfrogs a minimum 10 home games with the regular season ending by mid-August.

RHI Commissioner Ralph Backstrom announced Tuesday that his league has secured a loan from a New York financial company. Estimated at $1.5 million, the loan is expected to help the league stay in business until it can raise at least $10 million through a stock sale.

League chairman Larry King said he expects to step down and a new management team to be put in place. League meetings are expected to be held April 6-7 in Denver to decide whether to play in 1998 or wait until 1999.

“What I understand is that [RHI] will not play this year,” Silver said. “I don’t really know what they are doing. We are going to play in Major League Roller Hockey this year and we shall see what happens after that.”
