Felony drug charges have been filed against an Oxnard man who was captured as a result of the state’s WeTip Hotline, authorities said.

Raul Raymundo Acosta, who is also known as Cubano, was arrested after an anonymous tip to the hotline alerted authorities that he was reportedly dealing cocaine, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.

Acosta was allegedly found in possession of one-fourth of a kilogram of cocaine, which authorities said was worth $6,600.

He has been charged with possession of cocaine, selling cocaine and conspiracy to commit a crime.

He remained in jail Friday in lieu of $500,000 bail.

The anonymous informant called WeTip after seeing a toll-free hotline on an anti-drug poster.

The informant was given an identification number and will now be eligible for a $1,000 reward if Acosta is convicted.

Since 1972, WeTip has received 334,000 anonymous tips that have resulted in 13,878 arrests and 7,186 convictions, WeTip spokeswoman Rachel Boldue said.

More than $22 million in stolen property has been recovered and more than $300 million in illegal drugs seized as a result of WeTip information.

Anyone with knowledge of a crime can call WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME.
