Fargas Has Surgery on Broken Right Leg

Michigan tailback Justin Fargas, a freshman from Notre Dame High, underwent surgery Monday in Ann Arbor, Mich., for a broken right leg sustained during the Wolverines’ 27-10 victory over Wisconsin.

“He should be ready for spring ball and come back as good or better,” said Fargas’ father, Antonio, who watched the game on television from his Encino home.

Fargas, who rushed for 277 yards and one touchdown this season, was injured in the fourth quarter. The injury was first reported as a dislocated knee.

Pepe Villasenor set a Southern Section single-season record two seasons ago when he caught 111 passes for Ventura’s St. Bonaventure High.

He no longer catches 10 passes or more a game, but he’s proving at 5 feet 7 and 150 pounds he can play college football.

Villasenor caught seven passes for 86 yards Saturday in Ohio Wesleyan’s season finale.

Villasenor ended up the team’s second-leading receiver with 29 catches for 274 yards.

Freshman quarterback David Neill of Nevada continues to make the Wolf Pack coaches look like geniuses for recruiting him out of Hart High.

Neill completed 22 of 32 passes for 407 yards and four touchdowns in Nevada’s 63-0 victory over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Neill ranks sixth nationally in passing efficiency. In eight games, he has completed 177 of 302 passes for 2,969 yards and 26 touchdowns.
