* Story line: In Dolphin quarterback Dan Marino’s 33rd Monday night appearance, the league’s Florida-based AFC teams meet for the first time. And speaking of Marino, the Dolphin offense was inept in last week’s 20-9 loss to the New York Jets, producing only 153 yards. Marino completed 13 of 21 passes for 121 yards, his worst game in 27 meetings with the Jets. With Karim Abdul-Jabbar limited to 16 yards in nine carries, John Avery led the Dolphins in rushing with 20 yards in four carries. It won’t get any easier against the Jaguars, who rank second in the AFC against the run and had two weeks to prepare for this game after holding the Oilers to 40 yards rushing in a 27-22 victory. Defensive end Tony Brackens returns to the lineup for the Jaguars after sitting out four games because of an ankle injury. “Getting him back is critical,” linebacker Kevin Hardy said. “He’s our best pass rusher. He creates plays. He creates turnovers.” When the Jaguars have the ball, they’ll try to get it into the hands of rookie running back Fred Taylor, who has filled in superbly for injured starter James Stewart. He leads all rookies with 290 yards rushing, including 244 in the last two games. “A lot of guys come up to me saying, ‘You’re the man now. You’re the man now,’ ” Taylor says. “I still don’t know yet.” The Jaguars’ main man, of course, is quarterback Mark Brunell.
