Cal State Fullerton officials are scheduled to appear before the NCAA infractions committee Sept. 25 in Atlanta in the investigation of its men’s basketball program.

“We’ve agreed to not make any statement until the committee has released its findings,” said Judith Anderson, university executive vice president.

Normally, the infractions committee makes a final determination of each case after reviewing charges made by the NCAA’s enforcement staff and the university’s response to the allegations, though the committee’s action is not usually announced until later.

The NCAA has accused Fullerton of recruiting violations and alleged extra benefits for athletes during the spring and summer of 1993 and the summer of 1994, when Brad Holland was coach. Holland resigned in the fall of 1994 to become coach at San Diego.

The university completed its response to the NCAA in June after an internal investigation. Anderson has declined comment on the substance of that report.

Anderson said she will attend the meeting with university President Milton Gordon, Athletic Director John Easterbrook, men’s basketball Coach Bob Hawking, athletic compliance director June Kearney and faculty representative Lee Gilbert.
