1 Dead, 3 Hurt in 2-Car Crash
An unidentified Lancaster man in his 20s died and three people suffered major injuries when two cars collided on the Antelope Valley Freeway about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. California Highway Patrol officers said Gary Michael Konrad, 48, of Palmdale, was southbound in a 1994 Trans Am when he drove over the divider into the northbound lanes, striking a Ford Festiva. The driver of the Festiva was killed and his two passengers were injured, as was Konrad. The victims were extricated from the wreckage by Los Angeles County firefighters, according to fire spokeswoman Christa Tolliver. The wounded were flown by helicopter to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills and to Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Van Nuys.
