Pepperdine Dominates Tournament

Lisa Chang won the individual title and two of her Pepperdine teammates placed in the top five to help the Waves win by 17 strokes in the Ram Fall Classic women’s golf tournament Wednesday at Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.

Chang, Jenny Glasgow and Tamie Durdin each shot one-over par 73s in the final round.

Chang finished 54 holes in 217 strokes and Glasgow tied Michelle Thomas of Colorado for second at 218.

Durdin tied for third at 219 with Kristen MacLaren of Texas El Paso, which finished third.

California placed second despite landing only one player in the top 10.

MEN’S SOCCER

UC San Diego 1, The Master’s 1--Erik Benitez scored on a rebound of Rusty Brooks’ shot in the ninth minute but the Mustangs couldn’t hold the lead in a nonconference game at The Master’s.

Jacob Ballinger of San Diego evened the score in the 26th minute with a header on a cross from Robert Bessler.

Sean Parsons had five saves for Master’s (2-1-1), and Lucas Curtolo had nine saves for San Diego (1-1-1).

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

CS Dominguez Hills d. Cal Lutheran, 9-15, 2-15, 15-10, 15-13, 15-10--Kristin Scott had 23 kills, 12 kills, four blocks and three aces for the Regals in their opener at Dominguez Hills (2-8).

The Regals had an attack percentage of zero in the fifth game, with five kills and five errors in 20 attempts. They fared little better in the third game, converting nine of 46 attempts with seven errors for a .043 attack percentage.

Tara Pintar of Dominguez Hills had 17 kills, 18 digs and four blocks.
