Eagles Hire Musgrave to Help Hoying
The Philadelphia Eagles hired Bill Musgrave to help coach quarterback Bobby Hoying, who struggled during the team’s season-opening 38-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Musgrave, 30, was a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos in his six-year career. Previously, he was quarterback coach with the Oakland Raiders, whose Jeff George threw for an NFL-high 3,917 yards and an AFC-best 29 touchdowns last season. The Raiders’ head coaching change from Joe Bugel to former Eagle assistant Jon Gruden left Musgrave without a job.
Hoying became Philadelphia’s starter late last season, replacing Ty Detmer, now a backup with the San Francisco 49ers, and Rodney Peete, the Eagles’ backup this season.

The Arizona Cardinals released offensive tackle Jon Clark and signed former Chicago Bear defensive end Carl Simpson to a one-year contract.
Simpson was cut by the Bears late in training camp after starting every game for Chicago the last two seasons.
