Reseda Pushes Past Cleveland For 20-18 Victory
After giving his team a chance to tie the score on a one-yard touchdown run with 14 seconds remaining, Cleveland High quarterback Eddie Whitaker was pushed out of bounds by a swarm of Reseda defenders on a two-point conversion attempt and the Regents held on for a 20-18 victory in a nonconference game between cross-town rivals at Cleveland.
The Reseda defense also stopped two previous two-point attempts by Cleveland (1-1).
Reseda quarterback Skyler McKnight rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another to tight end Eric Ceja. McKnight gained 85 yards in 15 carries, scoring on runs of 26 and seven yards. He also completed four of seven passes for 63 yards.
Whitaker completed 11 of 19 passes for 216 yards, but lost 40 yards on five sacks--four in the first half.
