7:30 TONIGHT CAPISTRANO VALLEY
Capistrano Valley will start backup quarterback Garrett Gray in place of Jeff Dixon, who injured his thumb in the third quarter of last week’s 42-27 loss to Edison. Capistrano Valley Coach Dave Brown said Dixon can’t grip the ball well enough to play quarterback, but he can still be effective as a running back or linebacker. Brown said the Cougars will have to show some improvement if they are going to beat Foothill. “We turned the ball over too many times against Edison,” Brown said. “If we can cut down on our mental and physical errors, I think we can get into the playoffs.”
