Raiders Dominate in Victory

With a dominating defense that had five interceptions, including two by Russell Burwell, and six sacks, the Raiders won a Western State Conference game at Moorpark.

Joseph Kos’ interception on the last play of the first quarter set up a 42-yard field goal by Geoffrey Marcus early in the second quarter. It was the only scoring for three quarters.

Bubba Jackson’s interception and 16-yard return gave the Raiders (1-1, 1-0 in conference play) the ball at the Santa Barbara 46-yard line.

Five plays later, Scott Ange threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Shayne Sobel. Sobel finished with three receptions for 51 yards.

Ange, who completed nine of 21 passes for 112 yards, found David Burns from 14 yards late in the fourth quarter.

Danny Nunez completed 13 of 29 passes for Santa Barbara (0-3, 0-1) and had five passes intercepted.

Moorpark’s Carl Richardson finished with 109 yards in 23 carries.
