Weber State Stops Montana, 27-20

Scott Shields kicked two field goals in the last three minutes and intercepted a pass by Brian Ah Yat with one second remaining to secure Weber State’s 27-20 victory over Montana in a Big Sky Conference game Saturday night in Ogden, Utah.

Morgan Welch rushed 36 times for 217 yards, including a 57-yard touchdown, for Weber State (4-0, 2-0 in conference play).

Brian Gales had touchdown runs of 27 and two yards for Montana (2-2, 0-1).

Montana State 37, Sacramento State 30--Rob Compson passed for 343 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more scores to rally the Bobcats to a Big Sky victory at Bozeman, Mont.

The Hornets (2-2, 0-1) took a 30-27 lead on Scott Brown’s 33-yard field goal with 13:20 left in the game.

Montana State (3-1, 1-0) tied the score three minutes later on a 50-yard field goal by Carson Souter and Compson scored on a one-yard run with 5:39 left.

Northern Arizona 28, Western State 9--David Moran ran for two touchdowns in relief of quarterback Clay Brown in the second half and the Lumberjacks won a nonconference game at Flagstaff, Ariz.

Moran, who started the season at safety, completed six of 12 passes for 67 yards after entering the game in the third quarter to spark Northern Arizona (3-1).
