Bell-Jeff 54, Campbell Hall 20--Edward Chaidez ran for 228 yards and three touchdowns in 18 carries and the Guards (1-2) won a nonleague game at Burroughs High.

Chaidez scored on his first run from scrimmage, sprinting 63 yards up the middle of the field to give Bell-Jeff a 6-0 lead early in the game.

He added scoring runs of eight and 71 yards.

Campbell Hall (1-2) tied the game, 14-14, on a nine-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Kerr to Sean Porter with two seconds left in the first half.

Bell-Jeff’s double-flanker, misdirection offense dominated the second half, creating confusion for the Vikings while also piling up yardage.

The Guards finished with 418 yards rushing. Richard Tobias added 123 yards and one touchdown in 10 carries and Carlos Trujillo ran for 51 yards in three carries, including a 45-yard touchdown in the first half.

Kerr completed 19 of 33 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns.

Costly penalties also took the Vikings out of scoring opportunities, allowing Bell-Jeff to steadily stretch its lead.
