Favored Score Quick became the seventh horse in Fairplex Park history to win the $100,000 Ralph M. Hinds Pomona Invitational Handicap in consecutive years on Sunday as the Los Angeles County Fair meeting came to a close.

Score Quick, ridden by Matt Garcia, led from the start of the about 1 1/8-mile race and defeated Budroyale by a half-length in 1:50. For Score Quick’s trainer, 71-year-old Mel Stute, it was the 146th career victory and 40th stakes win at the Pomona track--both records.

Apprentice jockey J.C. Gonzalez won the riding championship with 28 wins. Paul Aguirre, Caesar Dominguez, Jeff Mullins and Sandy Shulman shared the trainer championship at six wins.
