Police on Wednesday identified two shooting suspects in what was apparently a business dispute among produce vendors. The incident Tuesday night in Dana Point left a third man in critical condition.

Pedro H. Leon, 32, and Jose Campos, 23, both of Los Angeles, are being held in connection with the shooting of the third man, said Lt. Tim Carney of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

“It was a business dispute,” Carney said, adding that the 42-year-old victim, who was not identified, apparently knows the suspects.

“They are all produce vendors,” he said.

The shooting took place in the 33000 block of Cheltam Way about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The victim, who was shot in the head, was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Wednesday, said Lt. Hector Rivera of the Sheriff’s Department.

After the shooting, deputies stopped the suspects’ van on Del Obispo Street and detained both men for questioning. Leon and Campos were then booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, officials said.
