Two men wanted by authorities in separate slayings were arrested in North Hollywood this week, according to police.

Shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, police arrested Roger Jones, 25, in connection with the Feb. 2, 1998, alleged murder of Arnulfo Murillo in North Hollywood. Police allege Jones, a North Hollywood resident, shot Murillo during a drug exchange.

Police had Jones under surveillance and picked him up as he met a group of acquaintances at Lankershim and Ventura boulevards, said Det. Vince Bancroft of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division.

Jones was just a block away from Lankershim Boulevard and Kentucky Drive, where police say he fatally shot Murillo.

About 6 p.m. Wednesday, police arrested Salvadore Morales, 21, while serving a search warrant at a residence in the 7700 block of Vineland Avenue in Sun Valley, according to LAPD Det. Mike Coffey.

Morales was wanted in connection with the March 13 shooting death of Fernando Galeana, an 18-year-old Los Angeles resident.

Police said Galeana was shot in the stomach while visiting with friends in front of an apartment in the 8200 block of Whitsett Avenue in Sun Valley. He died while being taken to the hospital.
