9 Arrested After Brawl Erupts at Bar

A Ventura bar fight early Friday morning left nine men jailed, including a bouncer suspected of firing a gun during the brawl. Twenty officers from three departments responded to the melee, which resulted in only minor injuries.

Two Ventura police officers arrived tat Stinger’s bar at 2815 E. Main St. about 1 a.m. Friday, after a fight was reported there. After breaking up the altercation, the officers remained at the bar. Within minutes, police say, the officers heard gunshots outside and a second fight broke out. More Ventura officers arrived,, along with sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers.

Nine men, ranging in age from 17 to 22, were arrested. Bouncer Esequiel Perez, 22, was arrested on suspicion of firing a .38-caliber revolver that officers recovered. Perez was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm.

The other eight suspects, six of whom are under 21, were arrested on suspicion of fighting in public and interfering with police officers.

No one was hurt by the gunfire, and authorities described most of the injuries from the incident as being minor to moderate cuts and scrapes.
