The Redevelopment Agency is expected tonight to approve creation of the city’s first veterans memorial, to be placed north of the Anaheim Museum on Anaheim Boulevard. The city manager’s office, responding to requests from veterans groups and residents, initiated a task force to develop the project; local artist Richard Turner was commissioned last year.

Turner’s design, approved earlier this month, features a bronze bas-relief depicting participants in wars of the 20th century. The work will span 15 feet around a cylindrical concrete column. City officials hope to unveil the $375,000 project on Veterans Day.

The agency meets at 5 p.m. in City Council chambers, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
