The Redevelopment Agency on Tuesday approved construction of the city’s first veterans memorial, to be unveiled on South Anaheim Boulevard on Veterans Day. The $375,000 project, which will feature a bronze bas-relief depicting participants in wars of the 20th century, will include landscaping and water fountains, said Redevelopment Manager Robert Zur Schmiede. The project is the culmination of a yearlong discussion among city officials, local veterans organizations and concerned citizens to bring a memorial to the city, he said.
