Man Hit by Pickup Truck Badly Injured
A pedestrian was critically injured Sunday morning when he was hit by a pickup truck on Gonzales Road.
David Swearingen, 22, was walking across the road, just east of Patricia Street, around 5:30 a.m. when he was hit by a 1985 Dodge Ram driven by Eliseo Frutos, 38, of Oxnard.
Swearingen was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center with head and internal injuries. He was listed in critical but stable condition late Sunday and was being transferred to Ventura County Medical Center.
Frutos was not injured, and there is no indication alcohol was involved in the accident.
