* Kristine Quance-Julian, a graduate of Granada Hills High and a member of the Trojan Swim Club, won the women’s 200-meter individual medley in 2:16.06 on Tuesday at the Phillips 66 U.S. National Summer Championships in Minneapolis.

Quance-Julian edged Trojan Swim Club teammate Michala Kwasny, who finished at 2:16.61.

Jennifer Parmenter, another Granada Hills graduate, was eighth in 2:18.95, and Carly Geehr of La Canada was 11th in 2:20.01.

Ian Prichard of Buena High finished fifth in the men’s 1,500-meter freestyle in 15:37.71, more than 17 seconds faster than his previous best. Prichard, 17, met the 2000 Olympic trials qualifying standard of 15:47.49.

He also qualified for trials in the 400 meters in 3:57.15, nearly 4 1/2 seconds faster than his previous best, which placed him seventh on Monday.

Mark Warkentin of Buenaventura Swim Club placed second at 1,500 meters in 15:31.63.

Geehr was eighth in the women’s 1,500 meters in 16:42.72.

TENNIS

* Ryan Heinberg of Agoura Hills and Prakash Amritraj of Encino had their singles matches postponed by rain Tuesday in the boys’ 16 division of the U.S. Tennis Assn. National Hardcourt Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Heinberg advanced to the round of 32 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Brian Morton of Costa Mesa on Monday. Amritraj defeated Robert Yim of Glendale, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.

In boys’ 18 doubles, Philip Sheng of Thousand Oaks and Nick Weiss of Calabasas advanced to the round of 16 with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over David Hippee of Plymouth, Maine, and Eric Butorac of Rochester, Maine.

Travis Rettenmaier of Camarillo and Alex Bogomolov of Miami defeated Justin Hunter of Southlake, Texas, and Joe Morris of Amarillo, Texas, 6-0, 6-3.

* Junior Brooke Borisoff of Agoura High defeated Shelah Chao of Medford, N.J., 6-1, 6-1, to advance to the round of 32 in the girls’ 16 division of the USTA National Hardcourt Championships on Tuesday in San Diego.

Jody Scheldt of Bonsall defeated Alyson Tyson of Agoura High, 6-0, 6-2.

* Erica Sauer of Somis beat Natalie Arcario, 6-2, 6-4, to advance to the round of 16 in the girls’ 14 division of the USTA National Hardcourt Championships in College Park, Ga.

GOLF

* Hana Kim of Encino had a 1-1 record in four-ball matches Tuesday to help the West take a 10-5 victory over the East in the 10th annual AJGA Canon Cup matches at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Kim and Kim Rowton of San Antonio defeated Jeanne Cho and Nareee Wongluekiet, both of Bradenton, Fla., 4 and 3, during the morning four-ball matches.

Bill Haas of Greer, S.C., and Kari Damron of Conway, S.C., beat Kim and Ron Won of Irvine, 3 and 2, during the mixed four-ball matches.

* Roy Moon of Simi Valley and Jeff Osborn of Glendale are tied for seventh going into the final round of the 39th California Boys’ State Amateur Championship today at the Victoria Club in Riverside.

Moon and Osborn both are at 74-71--145, eight shots behind Tom Johnson of Fair Oaks, who leads at 67-70--137.

* Linda Pearson of La Canada beat Laurl Sisco of La Quinta, 1 up, in the first round of match play in the Women’s Southern California Golf Assn.’s Southern Championship at Mission Viejo Country Club.

Pearson shot 80 on Monday to qualify for the championship flight.

DIVING

* Leanne Dumais of Ventura, a freshman at Buena High, finished third in the girls’ 14-15 division of the three-meter springboard competition Sunday at the Speedo U.S. Junior Olympic National Championships in Orlando, Fla.

Dumais scored 460.62 points.

Dwight Dumais, Leanne’s brother, finished sixth in the boys’ 13-and-under one-meter springboard competition with 291.90 points.
