ANGEL SCOUTING REPORT / CLEVELAND : Nagy Rises, Then Shines in Shutout of Devil Rays

CLEVELAND — Charles Nagy knew he’d have a great performance before he arrived at the ballpark Saturday. He knew it before he got out of bed.
Nagy shut out Tampa Bay on four hits through eight innings and Harold Baines had a run-scoring single as the Cleveland Indians kept pace with New York for the best record in the American League with a 3-0 victory over Tampa Bay.
“I felt good when I woke up today. I don’t really know how to explain it. Some days you go out there and you have everything working,” Nagy said.
Nagy (14-9) walked three and struck out six, while Bobby Witt (7-11) lost his 11th consecutive decision against Cleveland, a streak dating to 1991.
Mike Jackson picked up his 31st save.
Baines, acquired Friday from the Baltimore Orioles, drove in Roberto Alomar in the sixth with a single. In his first game with Cleveland on Friday night, he drove in both runs in a 2-1 victory.
