Crenshaw High went into Friday night’s City Section football semifinal against San Pedro with revenge on its mind.

The Cougars were calling the game “The Big Payback” for a loss San Pedro had inflicted on the Cougars earlier this season.

Crenshaw accomplished its goal, defeating San Pedro, 34-13, at Fremont High before a crowd of 2,500.

Terrence Whitehead of Crenshaw caught three passes for 49 yards and a touchdown and also returned a punt 59 yards for a touchdown at the 5:35 mark of the third quarter.

Lee Webb rushed for a touchdown and had scoring receptions of 17 and 22 yards from quarterback Devin Hollins, who completed 14 of 26 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns.

San Pedro’s Jabari Meador gained 146 yards in 23 carries. Navarro completed seven of 16 passes for 44 yards.

Webb scored on a 15-yard run with 9:09 left in the second quarter and Whitehead ran the ball in for the two-point conversion to give Crenshaw its 8-0 halftime lead.
