Linder, Slotnick Reach Final

Share

Caryn Linder and Shannon Slotnick usually root for Granada Hills High teammates Michal Zeituni and Robin Meselson, except when the doubles teams are playing each other.

That was the case Friday in the City Section individual girls’ tennis tournament. Linder and Slotnick showed why they are seeded first by defeating Zeituni and Meselson, 6-3, 6-0, in a semifinal match at the Warner Center Tennis Club.

In the other semifinal, Granada Hills’ No. 3 team of seventh-seeded Jennifer Steinberg and Andrea Blieden lost to second-seeded Jennifer Lin and Setarah Safii of Palisades, 6-3, 6-1, ending the Highlanders’ hopes for an all-Granada Hills final.

Granada Hills’ No. 1 singles player Jasmin Dao lost to top-seeded Jessica Roland of Hollywood, 6-1, 6-4.

Slotnick and Linder will play Lin and Safii Monday. Roland, the defending champion, will play Yelena Olshanskaya of Fairfax for the singles title. Zeituni and Meselson will play Steinberg and Blieden in the third-place doubles match. Dao will play Judith De Vera of Carson in the singles third-place match.
