Injuries Could Bring Roster Addition

There may be some good news for a player in the Continental Basketball Assn. or overseas if the Clippers add someone to help out while starting shooting guard Derek Anderson and backup big man Brian Skinner are out because of sprained ankles.
After Thursday’s practice, Coach Chris Ford said he would like to bring in a player because both Anderson and Skinner probably will be out at least two weeks.
“Maybe we will bring in one person. . . . If we put someone on the injured list, he’ll be on for [tonight]’s game,” Ford said. “What do we bring in? Do we bring in a big or a perimeter player? Those are discussions after we look through the list of possibilities.”
The last time the Clippers were two players down, they played their best basketball of the season. Ford is hoping for the same now with the roster at 10.
Third-year center Keith Closs, who has been all but nonexistent in Ford’s rotation this season, looks to get more playing time. Closs was three for three from the field and had a season-high seven points and four rebounds in the blowout loss to the Lakers on Tuesday.
“I pulled Keith to the side and told him this is his opportunity,” Ford said about the 7-foot-3 Closs. “He’s going to be our first big guy off the bench . . . depending on our matchup.”
