GIRLS’ ALL-REGION CROSS-COUNTRY

First Team

NICOLE BONINO -- La Canada, Junior

* Bonino was unable to defend her Southern Section Division III title, but won her first Rio Hondo League title, placed second in the section final and ninth in the state meet.

KELLEY HESS -- Thousand Oaks, Junior

* Hess is a repeat first-team selection after placing second in the Ventura County and Marmonte League championships and finishing seventh in the Southern Section Division I final.

LAURA JAKOSKY -- Agoura, Junior

* Jakosky, another repeat selection, fell short in defending her Southern Section Division II title. But she won her first Ventura County and Marmonte League titles and finish second in the section final, about a foot behind Amber Steen of Newport Harbor. Jakosky finished sixth in the state meet.

NATALIE STEIN -- North Hollywood, Junior

* The three-time all-region selection was the runner-up in the City Section final for the second year in a row. She placed a disappointing 43rd in the state Division I final, but bounced back with a 22nd-place finish in the West region championships.

RAE STUMBOUGH -- Nordhoff, Senior

* The No. 1 runner on the top-ranked team in the region won the state Division IV title, placed third in the Southern Section final and was fourth in the Ventura County championships.

JAZMIN TREADWAY -- Canyon, Sophomore

* The runner-up in the Foothill League championships placed 10th in the Southern Section Division I final and won the large schools race of the Santa Clarita Valley Invitational.

Second Team

CATHY DUNNE -- Buena, Senior

* The Channel League champion placed eighth in the Ventura County championships and 30th in the Southern Section Division I final.

CASSANDRA GOODSON -- Chaminade, Senior

* The Mission League champion placed eighth in the Southern Section Division IV final and 33rd in the state meet.

CASSIE RAMIREZ -- Highland, Sophomore

* Ramirez, in her first season, upset Rosanna Kirkendall of Lancaster for the Golden League title and placed 14th in the Southern Section Division I final.

WHITNEY RUSSELL -- Hart, Freshman

* Russell failed to qualify for the Southern Section Division I final, but defeated Treadway by two seconds for the Foothill League title.

BRENDA STEVENS -- Canyon, Freshman

* Stevens was an unknown at the start of the season, but she placed fifth in the Foothill League championships and 18th in the Southern Section Division I final.

JENNIFER TURK -- Newbury Park, Junior

* Turk finished third in the Ventura County and Marmonte League championships and 10th in the Southern Section Division II final.

ERIN WEESNER -- Royal, Sophomore

* Weesner placed fourth in the Marmonte League final, fifth in the Ventura County championships and 24th in the Southern Section Division I final.
