Women’s Basketball

Thieme, averaging 13.7 points, scored a season-high 28 Saturday in a victory over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Thieme made six of eight from three-point range, and was 10 of 16 from the floor. She also had five assists and four rebounds.

THIS WEEK

Baseball: The Titans open the season with a three-game weekend series at home against Stanford, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday. The two nationally ranked teams also play at 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

Men’s basketball: Fullerton (9-9, 3-5) struggled on the road again last week, losing at UC Santa Barbara and at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The Titans return home, where they are 8-1, for a 7 p.m. game Thursday against Utah State (11-8, 4-4). Fullerton plays at last-place UC Irvine at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Women’s basketball: The Titans (3-16, 1-7) ended their losing streak at a school-record 12 games Saturday with an 88-80 victory over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. They play only one game this week, at home at 2 p.m. Sunday against UC Irvine. Erin Whiteside is averaging 13.9 points.

Women’s gymnastics: The Titans, who finished third in a triangular meet Sunday against host Boise State and Arizona, return home for a dual meet with UC Davis at 7 p.m. Friday in Titan Gym. Megan Berry was fourth in the all-around last weekend.

Wrestling: The Titans will be competing in the All-Collegiate Meet Saturday in San Francisco.

Fencing: The Titans will compete in a meet with UCLA, USC and host UC Santa Barbara at 10 a.m. Saturday.
