George Wrignster, a student tight end and defensive end from Sylmar High, said he will sign a letter of intent with Oregon.

Wrighster, 6 feet 4 and 220 pounds, recorded 30 sacks in the last two seasons and was selected All-City Section and All-Valley by The Times last season.

Basketball

The Battle of the Valley, featuring top senior boys’ and girls’ players of the City Section against those from the Southern Section, is scheduled for May 1 at Cal State Northridge.

The girls’ game is set for 5:30 p.m., with the boys’ game at 7:30. Coaches and players will be announced later this spring.

Reseda High is looking for players to participate in its alumni game at 2 p.m. on Feb. 20.

SOCCER

Molly Cahan, a midfielder at Harvard-Westlake, tore a ligament in her left knee Monday against Chaminade and will miss the rest the season. Cahan missed last season after reconstructive surgery on her right knee.

ICE SKATING

Andrey Chua of Sun Valley will compete in the U.S. junior nationals beginning Sunday in Salt Lake City.

Chua, 11, has won the Southwest Pacific Regional and the Pacific Coast Sectional this year.
