Once a new speed limit law takes effect Feb. 26, motorists can go a bit faster on one road but will have to hit the brakes on another. City traffic engineers said that a widening of Cannon Street between Santiago Canyon Road and Serrano Avenue means the city can safely up the limit from 40 to 45 mph. But because of construction around the Block at Orange, drivers who use Metropolitan Drive/The Block Drive will have to deal with a downgrade from 40 mph to 30 mph.
