Texas Upsets No. 10 Texas Tech

Edwina Brown had 23 points and 10 assists, and Texas made six of eight free throws over the final 70 seconds to beat No. 10 Texas Tech, 74-70, Saturday night in a Big 12 Conference game at Austin.

Texas (12-9, 6-5) led as many as 13 points in the second half.

Angie Braziel led Texas Tech (19-3, 8-2) with 19 points, and Rene Hanebutt added 15.

No. 1 Tennessee 94, Mississippi State 53--Semeka Randall and Michelle Snow scored 14 points each for the Volunteers in a Southeastern Conference game at Knoxville, Tenn.

The Volunteers (21-1, 10-0) also got 13 points from Chamique Holdsclaw, 12 from Kellie Jolly, 11 from Niya Butts and 10 from Shalon Pillow.

LaToya Graham scored 18 points for Mississippi State (12-9, 4-7).

No. 3 Louisiana Tech 96, South Alabama 32--Monica Maxwell scored 20 points for the Lady Techsters in a Sun Belt game at Ruston, La.

Louisiana Tech (18-2, 6-0 Sun Belt) forced 29 turnovers in winning their 10th consecutive game. South Alabama (7-11, 2-4) lost for the fourth time in five games.

No. 4 Connecticut 88, Miami 66--Tamika Williams scored a season-high 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Huskies in a Big East game at Miami.

Williams helped the Huskies (20-3, 13-1) beat the Hurricanes (11-10, 6-7) for the 11th consecutive time.

No. 5 Colorado State 64, Tulsa 50--Becky Hammon scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds and had four assists to lead the Rams (24-1, 9-0) in a Western Athletic Conference game at Tulsa, Okla.

Tulsa (5-16, 3-6) shot 23% from the field in the first half.

No. 6 Notre Dame 77, Seton Hall 49--Niele Ivey scored 15 points and added 11 assists for the Fighting Irish (19-2, 11-2) in a Big East game at South Bend, Ind. Naimah Smith led Seton Hall (5-17, 2-12) with 11 points.

No. 12 Rutgers 71, No. 20 Boston College 52--Tammy Sutton-Brown scored 18 points and the Scarlet Knight defense held Boston College (17-5, 9-5) to 31.5% shooting in a Big East game at Boston. Tomora Young finished with 16 points for Rutgers (20-4, 12-1).

No. 25 Florida International 66, New Orleans 62--Zuzana Michalcov had 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Golden Panthers (18-3, 6-1) in a Sun Belt game at New Orleans (9-12, 2-5).
