San Francisco 83, Loyola Marymount 71--Gerald Zimmerman, the West Coast Conference’s second leading scorer, had 24 points and the Dons defeated the Lions at San Francisco.
Zimmerman, a senior playing in his final home game, also had 11 rebounds for the Dons, 11-16 overall and 6-6 in conference. James Lee added 17 and Russell Hinder had a career-high 14 rebounds.
Haywood Eaddy, with 12 points, led four Lions scorers in double figures, which included 10 points and a career-tying 11 rebounds from Silvester Kainga. Robert Davis had 11 points and Rupert McClendon chipped in with 10 for the Lions (10-14, 5-7).
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 97, Long Beach State 79--Jabbar Washington scored 17 points to lead the Mustangs past the 49ers at San Luis Obispo.
Jeremiah Mayes added 16 points and Jason King scored 15 as Cal Poly, 10-13 overall and 5-7 in the Big West, took over late.
The Mustangs’ Mike Wozniak made a three-pointer with 7:46 left in the second half to give the Mustangs their first lead of the game at 68-66. Washington then made two 3-pointers and Wozniak scored on a layup to give Cal Poly its biggest lead at 76-66.
Long Beach (10-13, 7-6) cut the lead to 83-79 on a jumper by D’Cean Bryant and a tip-in by Ramel Lloyd, but it was as close as the 49ers would get.
