Louisiana Tech Wins Again

Tamicha Jackson scored 18 points and No. 3 Louisiana Tech forced 31 turnovers Saturday night in a 95-70 victory over Western Kentucky at Ruston, La.

The Lady Techsters (22-2, 10-0) won their 14th consecutive game and clinched their seventh Sun Belt regular-season championship in a row. Western Kentucky is 19-5, 7-3.

No. 4 Colorado State 101, Wyoming 68--Becky Hammon scored 36 points at Ft. Collins, Colo., to lead the Rams (27-1, 12-0 Western Athletic Conference) to their 15th consecutive victory. Wyoming is 6-18, 2-10.

No. 6 Connecticut 82, Georgetown 55--Shea Ralph, the former super-sub getting her fourth consecutive start, scored 25 points and the Huskies’ defense smothered the Big East’s leading scorer at Washington.

Katie Smrcka-Duffy, averaging 21 points for the Hoyas (15-10, 9-8), was held to nine points by Connecticut (23-4, 16-1).

No. 7 Rutgers 47, Seton Hall 40--Tomora Young scored 16 points at Piscataway, N.J., as the Scarlet Knights (24-4, 16-1 Big East) won their seventh consecutive game.

Rutgers was held to its lowest point total of the season. The previous low was 54 against No. 1 Tennessee on Jan. 3.

Arminda Moreno led Seton Hall (6-20, 3-15) with 15 points.

No. 9 Notre Dame 89, West Virginia 54--Sheila McMillen scored 25 points for the Fighting Irish (22-3, 14-3 Big East) at Morgantown, W.Va.

McMillen made five three-point shots to give her 205 for her career, tying her with Beth Morgan for the school record.

No. 19 Iowa State 86, Kansas State 53--Stacy Frese scored 15 of her 22 points in the first half and Desiree Francis added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Cyclones (19-5, 11-3 Big 12) at Ames, Iowa.

Kansas State (13-11, 6-8) shot 36%.

No. 21 Kansas 58, Oklahoma 54--Coach Marian Washington earned her 500th career victory as Lynn Pride had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Jayhawks (20-7, 10-4 Big 12) at Lawrence, Kan.

Washington, in her 26th season at Kansas, is one of only five active Division I coaches to have won 500 games at one school. Oklahoma is 13-11, 7-7.
