Chapman Takes Advantage of Error to Beat Cal Lutheran

Eric Albright had a two-run single and Scott Montgomery hit a two-run double as Chapman rallied with four runs in the eighth inning to beat Cal Lutheran, 5-4, in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday at Cal Lutheran.

Cal Lutheran shortstop Andy Super made a two-out error that allowed Chapman (7-0) to score four unearned runs.

Adam Olow hit a homer in the fourth for the Panthers to make the score 2-1. Cal Lutheran (6-2) scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend its lead to 4-1.

Super and Brian Malchow each had RBI singles in the first inning for Cal Lutheran.

In Golden State Athletic Conference baseball:

Concordia 5, Southern California College 3--Concordia (9-8-1, 4-4) rallied with three runs in the eighth inning to win. SCC’s Jeremiah Taylor struck out 10 and allowed no earned runs in the loss. Concordia’s Kevin Dudley had eight strikeouts for his second victory.

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball:

Azusa Pacific 82, Concordia 78--Azusa Pacific shot 61% in the second half, rallying from a 44-33 halftime deficit. Joel Burgess led host Concordia (16-15, 5-8) with 19 points and Josh Giles added 17 points. T.J. Walker scored 23 points for Azusa Pacific (25-4, 11-2).

In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:

Azusa Pacific 74, Concordia 66--Host Concordia (15-11, 8-5) lost despite having a 14-point second-half lead. Pricilla Bendik had 23 points for Concordia. Amy Lemm had 15 points and 15 rebounds for Azusa Pacific (21-7, 10-3).

In Big West Conference women’s tennis:

Long Beach State 5, Cal State Fullerton 4--Dianne Asis and Lonnie Burggraf teamed up for a 9-7 victory in doubles to clinch the victory for Long Beach State (2-6).
