Jones, Santa Clara Get Well, 88-65

Nick Jones was back. So was Santa Clara High.

Jones, who missed a game last weekend because of the flu, defeated Calabasas, 88-65, in a Frontier League boys’ basketball game Tuesday at Calabasas.

Jones scored 28 points, 16 of them in the first half as the Saints (17-2, 2-1 in league play) jumped out to a 51-36 halftime lead.

Jones, who has signed a letter of intent with UC Santa Barbara, did not play in the Saints’ last-second loss to Santa Paula on Friday.

B.J. Ward, who has also signed with UC Santa Barbara, scored 26 points for Santa Clara, ranked No. 3 in the region by The Times.

Spencer Hariton scored 26 points, including six three-pointers, for Calabasas (8-12, 1-3).

Pasadena 84, Crescenta Valley 64--James Jenkins had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Falcons (15-5, 2-2) in a Pacific League loss at Crescenta Valley.

Kean Mallory of Crescenta Valley scored the first basket of the game and then left because of a sprained ankle.

George Dejohnette scored 20 points for Pasadena (16-5, 4-0).

La Canada 51, San Marino 37--Pat Madigan scored 17 points, including five three-pointers, for the Spartans (9-12, 3-1) in a Rio Hondo League game at La Canada.

Paraclete 60, L.A. Baptist 56--Glenn Jones scored all 14 of the Spirits’ points in the fourth quarter of an Alpha League victory at L.A. Baptist.

Jones finished with 26 points for Paraclete (6-12, 1-1).

Burroughs 49, Canyon 43--Brian Lee scored 20 points and Carlos Coronado scored four of his eight in overtime to help the Indians register a Foothill League victory at Burroughs.

Everett Bryson scored 16 points for Canyon (10-9, 3-1) and tied the game, 39-39, on a layup with 18 seconds left in regulation.

Burroughs is now 10-9, 2-2..

Saugus 71, Valencia 69--Jerome Edwards’ follow of Nic Echevestre’s miss put the Centurions ahead for good with 45 seconds remaining in a Foothill League game at Saugus.

Echevestre, who finished with 30 points for Saugus (9-10, 1-3), added the first of two free throws with 15 seconds remaining.

Eskias McDaniels’ three-point shot bounced off the rim and out of bounds for the Vikings (10-10, 3-1) with four seconds remaining, allowing the Centurions to run out the clock.

Littlerock 72, Palmdale 49--Gene Myvett collected 27 points and nine steals, and the No. 9 Lobos overcame a 12-0 first-quarter deficit to win a Golden League game at Littlerock.

Palmdale (8-10, 2-2) troubled Littlerock (17-2, 4-0) with its full-court pressure early in the game.

Jerome Holyfield came off the bench and took over at point guard for the Lobos, finishing with nine points and eight steals.

Eric Brown scored 22 points to lead Palmdale.

Nordhoff 79, Malibu 49--Andy Flores made 11 of 22 shots and scored 28 points to help the Rangers win a Frontier League game at Nordhoff.

Etienne Emanuel added 20 points and Flores had 10 rebounds for Nordhoff (15-2, 3-0).
