Quick Start Does Trick for Raiders

Channel Islands High used a big first half to take control en route to a 57-44 victory over Hueneme in a Pacific View League girls’ basketball game Thursday night at Hueneme.

Monique Taylor scored 15 of her 17 points and Jaline Bradley had 10 of her 14 points in the first half to help stake the Raiders (15-5, 3-0 in league play) to a 38-24 lead.

Because of foul trouble, Taylor sat out most of the second half and Bradley missed most of the fourth quarter.

Chenne Tuimoloau had eight points and seven assists for Channel Islands, ranked No. 5 in the region by The Times.

Christina Hermanson scored 16 points for Hueneme.

Littlerock 56, Quartz Hill 36--Kristel Jones scored 13 points to lead the Lobos (11-10, 3-2) to a Golden League victory at Littlerock.

Littlerock used a full-court press to hold Quartz Hill (6-11, 3-2) without a field goal in the second quarter.

Lancaster 47, Antelope Valley 26--Alicia Pratt made three three-pointers in the second half, finishing with 13 points, and the Eagles (5-10, 2-3) won a Golden League game at Lancaster.

Lancaster trailed, 15-12, at halftime but made five three-pointers in the second half.

Village Christian 60, L.A. Baptist 37--The Crusaders (9-9, 2-1) switched to a full-court press in the second half and turned a 26-26 tie into an Alpha League blowout at L.A. Baptist (4-10, 1-2).

Jenielee Greslie had 27 points and eight rebounds for Village Christian.

Paraclete 72, Pasadena Marshall 15--Jackie Kolesar had 30 points and seven steals and the Spirits (12-6, 3-0) earned their eighth consecutive victory in an Alpha League game at Paraclete.

St. Bonaventure 56, Fillmore 29--Amanda Benner, Elizabeth Spagnolia and Stacey Howard each scored 12 points for the Seraphs (10-8, 3-1) in a Tri-Valley League victory at St. Bonaventure.

Bell-Jeff 35, Serra 32--Ana Coronado had 15 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks to lead the Guards (6-13, 2-2) to a Camino Real League victory at Bell-Jeff.

Grace Brethren 48, L.A. Lutheran 14--Natalia Durso scored 20 points and the Lancers (10-7, 4-2) held the Lions to two points in the first half of a Heritage League game at L.A. Lutheran.

Santa Clarita Christian 72, West Valley Christian 10--Rachel Stone had 30 points and 15 steals for the visiting Cardinals (10-6, 6-1) in a Westside League victory.
