Crespi Overcomes Notre Dame, 3-1

Jimmy Sharp and Jeff Okerman scored in overtime to lift Crespi High to a 3-1 victory in a Mission League boys’ soccer game Thursday at Notre Dame.

Sharp broke the tie on a goal assisted by Andy Paulson in the first minute of the second 10-minute overtime period.

Sharp, who has five goals this season, converted after taking a pass across the goalmouth from Paulson.

Okerman, in his eighth game back from an injured right knee, wrapped up the scoring for the Celts (7-3-1, 4-1 in league play) by converting a 35-yard free kick five minutes later. Okerman missed last season with an injured left knee.

Notre Dame (8-5, 3-3) scored in the ninth minute on Shaun Anthony’s goal and Crespi got even on Darren Davies’ goal in the 30th minute.

Birmingham 1, Cleveland 0--Roman Gorbartkian scored in the 20th minute and the Patriots (9-0-3, 6-0-2), ranked No. 1 in the region by The Times, won a Northwest Valley Conference game at Birmingham.

Buena 3, Channel Islands 0--Brad Workman scored twice on assists from Chris Parkin in the first 15 minutes and Buena (14-3-3) won a nonleague game at Channel Islands.

Workman’s goals were his 12th and 13th of the season. Jason Bradbury scored Buena’s last goal on an assist from Argenis Macias.

El Camino Real 1, Kennedy 1--Bruno Queiroz scored at the 63-minute mark to earn a tie for Kennedy (3-9-4, 0-6-2) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Kennedy.

Jose Rivera-Otero gave the Conquistadores (11-4-2, 6-1-1) a 1-0 lead when he scored ninth in the 14th minute.

GIRLS’ GAMES

Buena 7, Channel Islands 1--Natalie Sanderson had two first-half goals and two assists for the Bulldogs (15-2-2) in a nonleague game at Buena.

Buena (15-2-2), ranked No. 4, has a seven-game unbeaten streak.

Cleveland 4, Kennedy 2--Brynne Blumstein had three goals, giving her 24 this season, and the Cavaliers (11-1-2, 4-1-1) won a West Valley League game at Cleveland.

Angela Veliz scored for Cleveland on a free kick.

Birmingham 6, Sherman Oaks CES 1--Errin Smith scored three goals for the Patriots in a West Valley League game at Sherman Oaks CES.

Tess Akpovi scored on a penalty kick for Sherman Oaks CES.
