Crespi Works Overtime to Beat St. Francis

Marcin Jagoda scored 16 points to help Crespi High past St. Francis, 60-57, in overtime in a Mission League boys’ basketball game Saturday night at St. Francis.

Michael Jenkins made a three-point basket for St. Francis (9-10, 1-5 in league play) as time ran out in regulation, sending the game into overtime.

Blake Tibbetts of Crespi (15-4, 5-1) scored eight points in overtime and finished with 15. He made two free throws with eight seconds to play in overtime.

Derek Lavelle scored 20 of his 26 points in the first half for St. Francis. He was scoreless in the third quarter.

Crespi tightened in the third quarter, holding St. Francis to two points in the quarter and taking a 41-28 lead.

In other boys’ games:

Harvard-Westlake 80, Loyola 67--Point guard Todd Kurihara had 24 points, and center Dan Kinzer had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Wolverines (11-9, 4-2) in a Mission League victory at Harvard-Westlake.

David Salvatore had 16 points and Jared Althaus had 10 for Loyola (12-8, 1-5).

Valley Torah 64, Mesrobian 42--Edward Gerov scored 24 points for Valley Torah (13-2, 5-0) in a Valley League game.

GIRLS’

Louisville 60, Sacred Heart 52--Megan Wiser scored 10 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter for the Cardinals in a nonleague victory at Sacred Heart.

Sarah Kelso had 19 points and 12 rebounds for Louisville (12-6, 2-3).

Arroyo 44, Hart 40--The Indians (11-8) went scoreless in overtime in a nonleague game at Arroyo.

Briana Kentfield had 15 points and eight rebounds for Hart (11-8), and Kylie Hourigan had eight points and 10 rebounds.

St. Mary’s 48, Valencia 38--Megan Honaker had 12 points and Stephanie Patterson had 10 for the Vikings (10-11) in a nonleague loss at Valencia.

Holy Martyrs 42, Avalon 33--Celina Rostam scored 17 points for he Armens (8-9, 6-3)in Liberty League overtime victory at Holy Martyrs.
