A survey of popular art calendars captures the visual and cultural spirit of Mexico in “La Patria Portatil--A Portable Homeland, 100 Years of Mexican Chromo Art Calendars,” opening Friday at the Latino Museum of History, Art and Culture. Featuring original canvases, photographs and prints, the exhibition will offer historical insight into many 20th-century milestones such as the Mexican Revolution, the golden age of Mexican cinema and a homage to Cesar Chavez.

Folk singers Peter, Paul & Mary join John Mauceri and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra for the annual Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For the first half, the orchestra will play music by Rozsa Rodgers, Kander, Grofe, Elmer Bernstein and others. After intermission, the popular folk trio will perform.

Universal Studios’ new 3-D Terminator ride may not be for the wee ones, but Universal Studios Summer Kids Fest offers plenty for tikes. The program of summer attractions includes music, games, prizes and cartoon celebrities. Land of Imagination will lead children through a series of interactive half-hour programs and Woody Woodpecker’s Clubhouse will feature a themed playground where Woody and friends involve kids in a variety of games.
