PCH Accident Victim Identified
The Orange County coroner’s office Tuesday identified a pedestrian killed Monday evening while trying to cross Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach as Nicholas Ruben Martinez, 28, of Pico Rivera.
Martinez apparently walked into traffic Monday evening at a signal near the entrance of Bolsa Chica State Beach and was hit by a westbound car driven by Steve Moorehead, Huntington Beach Police Sgt. Bill Meers said.
Moorehead, a 43-year-old U.S. Navy officer based in Panama, had been visiting his father at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach. Police did not arrest or cite Moorehead.
Paramedics pronounced Martinez dead at the scene.
