‘Evening at Pops’ ’ 30th Season; ‘Monty Python’ Arrives on A
This weekend, PBS’ “Evening at Pops” returns with five new episodes, A&E; begins repeats of a legendary British comedy series and WB kicks off a new comedy series.
PBS’ “Evening at Pops” begins its 30th season tonight at 8 on KCET-TV with “Swingin’ at the Pops,” featuring singer-songwriter Ann Hampton Calloway, the Jivin’ Lindy Hoppers and Five O’Clock Shadow (an all-male a cappella group).
MTV kicks off new episodes of its unpredictable “The Tom Green Show” tonight at 10:30.
The classic, wicked and enormously funny British comedy series “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” arrives on A&E; on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Jennifer Jason Leigh visits Bravo’s “Inside the Actor’s Studio,” Sunday at 5 and 9 p.m.
Huell Howser chronicles the history of Santa Monica’s Muscle Beach on “California’s Gold,” Sunday at 7:30 p.m. on KCET-TV.
Harry Hamlin and Jennifer Grant star in the new WB comedy series “Movie Stars” on Sunday at 9 p.m. Hamlin and Grant play married superstars who are trying to raise their family of three in Malibu. The series will also air Mondays at 9 p.m.

Bravo presents the giddy Gilbert & Sullivan operetta, “HMS Pinafore,” tonight at 5 and 8 p.m.
Stuart Scott and Rich Eisen flash back to ‘70s sports events on ESPN’s “SportsCenter of the Decade” on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Jeff Blake, Chris Chandler, Randall Cunningham, Steve McNair, Jake Plummer and Vinny Testaverde participate in the “NFL Quarterback Challenge,” Saturday at 11:30 a.m. on KCBS.
David Sheehan hosts “Summer Movie Magic,” Saturday at 7 p.m. on KCBS, which features interviews with such stars as John Travolta and Will Smith.

Stacy Keach narrates PBS’ “Savage Seas,” Sunday at 8 p.m. on KCET and KVCR-TV, a two-night four-hour documentary offering a new perspective on the world’s oceans by utilizing first-person accounts and undersea footage. The documentary concludes Monday at 8 p.m.
