Modesto Routs Lancaster

Jeff Schultz pitched five shutout innings and the Modesto A’s trounced Lancaster, 9-3, Thursday night at the Hangar.

Schultz (1-4) allowed four hits and struck out three, leaving with an 8-0 lead.

Peanut Williams hit his fifth home run for the JetHawks (5-10).

The Albuquerque Dukes placed Brent Cookson, former Santa Paula High and Ventura College outfielder, on the seven-day disabled list because of an injured wrist.

Cookson, who is batting .323 with 21 home runs and 53 runs batted in for the Dodgers’ triple-A affiliate, arrived in Los Angeles on Thursday to have the wrist checked by team doctors.

Rookie--Barry Tolli (Newbury Park) hit his first home run for the Tigers’ Gulf Coast League team in an 8-2 victory over the Phillies.
