UCLA Student Dies After Fall From Balcony

A UCLA student died Saturday after falling from a fourth-story apartment during a party, authorities said.
Kris Kutzke, 20, of San Diego suffered head and neck injuries when he plunged off a balcony about 1 a.m., said Lt. Dan Aikin of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Kutzke died a short time later at a hospital.
The victim had been drinking and was running to the balcony to throw a container of beer over the side when he apparently tripped, lost his balance and fell over the 3-foot-high balcony wall, Aikin said.
“His momentum kept him going,” LAPD Sgt. Jim Abbate said. “From what we could determine, it was completely accidental.”
