Arson Suspected in Fire at High School
SOUTH PASADENA — A fire Monday night destroyed a South Pasadena High School building that was already being demolished, and arson is suspected, authorities said.
The fire broke out about 9 p.m. in a former theater complex that was being torn down to make way for new construction. It was extinguished about 45 minutes later.
Large crowds gathered in front of the smoldering building, in the 1400 block of Fremont Avenue, and the street was closed.
No other buildings were affected and there were no injuries.
South Pasadena Fire Chief William Eisley said arson investigators were looking for the cause of the blaze.
