Johnson Scores 31 to Lead Orlando

Shannon Johnson scored a franchise-record 31 points Saturday night to help the Orlando Miracle to a 73-64 victory over the Sacramento Monarchs before 9,810 at Sacramento.

The Miracle, winning for only the second time in seven games, took over third place in the Eastern Conference, moving past the idle Charlotte Sting.

It was only the second home loss in eight games this year for the Monarchs, who led only once. Orlando led, 33-26, at halftime and outrebounded the Monarchs, 41-27.

Utah 76, Cleveland 70--Adrienne Goodson had 20 points and five rebounds to lead the Starzz in front of 8,556 at Cleveland.

Cleveland’s Merlakia Jones scored a franchise-high 27 points.

Tracy Henderson of the Cleveland Rockers was suspended for two games and four Detroit Shock players were disciplined for their roles in a fight during a game Friday night. Henderson was also fined $2,000 for fighting. Dominique Canty and Val Whiting of the Shock were each suspended for one game and fined $1,000, and Astou Ndiaye was given a one-game suspension and $500 fine for leaving the vicinity of the bench. Detroit’s Cindy Brown was fined $750 for helping initiate the altercation.
