L.A. Man Killed in Crash on Angeles Crest Highway
ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST — A man killed when his vehicle overturned near the junction of Angeles Crest and Angeles Forest highways was identified Monday as Robert Pike, 55, of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said.
Pike was driving west along the Angeles Crest Highway at an unknown speed Sunday night when his 1985 Chevy pickup truck veered off the road, struck the mountainside and overturned, said Officer Karen Faciane, a spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol.
Although Pike was wearing a seat belt, officers found him hanging out the driver’s side window.
He suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Faciane said.
There were no passengers in Pike’s vehicle.
